Document Summary

Vibration: the vocal folds are masses that are set into vibration. Once a body is set into vibration, it will vibrate at the same rate and pitch, until something will stop it. Elasticity the property of a material that allows it to return to its original shape after being displaced. Stiffness the strength of the forces within a material that restore it to its original shape after being distended. Inertia a quality of mass that states that a body in motion tends to stay in motion. When an object is put into vibration, we can measure the vibratory cycle moving from 1 point in the vibratory cycle to the same point again. Frequency of vibration is how often a cycle of vibration repeats itself per second. If frequency of vibration depends on elasticity, stiffness and mass then changing one of these properties will change the frequency of vibration of the object in oscillation.
