Think about big themes that have been discussed and focus studying around those themes. Paradox: while world is becoming much more globalized, it"s also given more states their autonomy and sense of dignity (independence). Becoming more and more similar (nations) and also becoming more independent and jealous of independence. Big themes: how the current world order was set up imperialism, european imperialism, and reaction to imperialism. Establishment of liberal world order after wwii, emphasis on soveriengyt and integrity of nation states. New phase: countries that set up initial world order are diminishing in word affairs, that was world order set up by us and western europe, rise of india and china. Old institutions will ahve to make room and change for these new powers. Un: inability of world to address serian issue. May be telling us something serious, relative shift of world power. All facts and details organize themselves around big themes.
