When more than one reinforcement schedule is in operation at the same time. Once the reinforcement schedule has been met and performed well, the requirement may be increased. Example fr 25 competed in 1 minute, 50 next series becomes fr 40. The requirements of all the active schedules must be met before the reinforcement is available. Lever press ( r ) - food ( sr ) The rat must make 50 lever presses and at least 1 must happen after a 2 minute interval. A series of schedules are chained together and that results in a terminal reinforce. Each link in the chain displays typical response pattern for the schedule. Blue light ( sp ) : lever press ( r ) - green light ( sr/sd ) : lever press ( r ) Red light ( sr/sd) : lever press ( r ) - food ( sr ) The earlier links are weaker than the end links.
