Document Summary
Adaptation of animals to their environments by development of dietary habits and physiological mechanisms that allow them to exploit available food sources in their habitats. Few animals are absolutely restricted to one type of food - they can adapt. Grazing animals: most common in animals that consume either or both. Foodstuffs that are scattered in small quantities across large areas. Humans, cats (carnivores), animals in agriculture: most common animals in that. Eat high quality foodstuffs (fruit, eggs, or other animals) Eat foodstuff that are commonly available in bulk. Different animals have different eating habits and so their body have undergone specialized adaptions. Harvesting equipment: mouth (teeth, tongue, lips, muzzle) The lips and tongue of horses and cattle grasp blades. Cows that are in captivity that don"t have long blades of grass to eat. They have an innate quality to use that aspect of there tongue.
