Document Summary

Ectotherms get most of their heat from the environment. Poikilotherms can allow body temperature to fluctuate. Homeotherms need to keep their body temperature relatively constant. Defined as heat transfer between two things touching. Much more important for heat loss than heat gain. Solar radiation is the most important factor for lizards going higher than the actual environmental temperature. Prefer lower body temperature and are more often in the shade. More likely to match temperature of the environment. Toes up mean it is minimuzing conduction. If you point parallel to the sun then you are minimizing solar radiation while if perpendicular then it is maximimzing qabs. Changing colors to absorb more or less heat. Low surface area volume ratio gives it a super high body temperature. Ectothermy with bouts of endothermy for functional purposes. Reticulate python will shiver while wrapping around eggs to warm the eggs.
