Males co-opted pheromones to their advantage in manitoba snake caves. While males are warming up they secrete a female like pheromone (they re called shemales) which distracts other males to court shemale and warm them up. Males are heterogametic while females are homogametic sex. Applies in most herps and all birds. Males are homogametic sex while females are heterogametic. Also seen in some squamata and anura. Low temp is males while higher temps are females.
