Cancer: group of diseases characterized by uncontrolled growth and spread of abnormal cells that disrupt. Neoplasm: a growth of tissue that serves no physiological function. Tumor: clump of cells formed by the useless tissue of a neoplasm. Malignant: can spread to other organs and tissues. Benign: usually encapsulated, non-cancerous, may not spread. Leukemia: cancers of blood-forming parts of the body, bone marrow, and spleen. Abnormal increase in the number of white blood cells. Lymphoma: affect lymphatic system (infection fighting system of the body) Carcinoma (most common cancers): arise in the epithelial tissues (tissue of skin or organs) Cells form benign tumors (non-cancerous) if too many are produced. Metastasis : process in which cancer cells spread throughout body to form new tumors.
