We should not trust our common sense if we want to know the scientific truth. Common sense is not a reliable source of truth seeking. Na ve realism: believing what we see is precisely true, also believing is seeing. Birds of a feather flock together opposites attract. Absence makes the heart grow founder out of sight, out of mind. Better safe than sorry nothing ventured, nothing gained. Two heads are better than one too many cooks to spoil the broth. Actions speak louder than words the pen is mightier than the sword. The scientific study of mind, brain and behavior. Not based on personal realizations, subjective understanding, intuitions, common sense, and gut-hunches. What enables us to think, feel, perceive; include conscious and unconscious processes and activities.
