Predation is a possible outcome of this game. Altruism: increases the fitness of another individual while decreasing the fitness of another. 2 people have been imprisoned for suspected involvement in a crime. Each is given the opportunity to: defect - testify against the other, cooperate - remain silent. How can cooperative behavior evolve? from a genetic point of view, and allele could increase its evolutionary success by indirectly promoting the survival and reproduction of other individuals that carry the allele (offspring) Inclusive fitness = contribution to the next generation from the gene"s point of view direct fitness (#of offspring) + indirect fitness (non-descendent kin produced through cooperation)
