Repro tract composed of tubal portion composed of 4 layers: (applies to: oviduct, uterus, cervix, vagina) Clitoris- unknown function, but we know we can get a response from it. Stimulation (3-5 sec) after artificial insemination increased conception rate in cows by 6% (not in hefers) Folds of skin that form closure to prevent exposure to bacteria/microorganisms. Important in cows because rectum is near vagina. Increased blood flow when female is in estrus (due to estrogen) Reponses easily seen in sow: swells + reddens opens slightly lots of lube (not as much as a cow/ewe) color can tell you whether time to breed or not (red/pink=in heat/receptive to male) vagina- copulatory organs. Contains lots of white blood cells to fight infection & eat weak sperm [[sperm is seen as foreign body!!]] 3 parts: vestibule- posterior vagina (entrance of vulva) Floor of vestibule = suburethral diverticulum (where urethra enters vagina: vagina proper (middle)-secretory.
