People scold the arctic people for killing endangered animals. There is a sense of meaningful work. There are strong incentives to steward resources. The people develop a closer connection to the land. It takes a village to butcher a whale so being social is beneficial to all the village members. Is viewed as being at the intersection between modernity and traditions. But change can be abrupt in the arctic.
