When you are in charge of a department or even ordering supplies, you will be asked to put together a budget. A budget can be small at hundreds of dollars, or millions or billions. Budgeting and fiscal management are usually a job in itself and a larger organization will have controls and support in place - conducted by those with finance education. At any level, a manager needs to know the basics and how to put a budget together. Must know how to implement and stay within the controls of a budget. To succeed, you must plan - this is a financial plan that sets expectations and projections for the month to month operation of the organization. Prioritizes and allocates funds to each department or program within the organization. It ensures fulfillment of the organization"s mission through fiscal responsibility or controls. Gives control to keep budget within approved contract" with limits, authorizations and expectations.
