Heart aorta abdominal aorta common iliac artery on right and left each split into external and internal iliac arteries. Internal iliac arteries take care of pelvic viscera and gluteal region. External iliac arteries take care of lower limb. Arteries come off main artery and join together. If main artery is obstructed, collateral arteries compensate. Cannot handle permanent damage if called upon quickly. If taxed slowly over time, they grow larger. Anastomoses where arteries or veins join together. External iliac at inguinal ligament (junction between abdomen and thigh) crosses ligament, renamed femoral artery mm brr (muscular branches) take care of anterior thigh. Femoral artery profunda femoris takes care of posterior/medial thigh (deep) Femoral artery passes through adductor hiatus renamed popliteal artery genicular aa branches.
