PSY 370 Lecture Notes - Lecture 13: Criterion Validity, Content Validity, Meta-Analysis
Document Summary
Criterion: an outcome that should be affected by your construct. Criterion-related validity: criterion = an important outcome. Not he same as our construct distinct, through we expect them to be related. Job performance graduate school success, successful completion of treatment, etc: how do we find criterion (go back to slides!) Calculating criterion-related validity: basically: correlation between predictor and criterion, we could test these correlations for significance. But the significance of a correlation is very dependent on sample size: more useful: coefficient of determinant. What"s a good validity coefficient: well what a good correlation coefficient, remember that the sig of a correlation depends on the sample size. Compare test scores with the criterion at the same time. Describes the present does not tell you about the future: predictive. Correlate test scores now with a criterion measured at some point in the future. Shows that the test does predict future behavior.
