Document Summary
We want to decrease human suffering, prevent problems, and help with problems if they"re happening. Theories taking complex information and boiling it down to prevent, treat, and predict behavior. Developmental psychopathology kids develop and change over time in significant ways, and we cannot ignore those factors: emotional, cognitive, behavioral factors. Transactional view what happens to someone is an interaction of who they are and what they"re bringing to the environment, and the environment itself. The environment can change the individual, and vice versa. Integrated approach we use multiple all sorts of different theoretical approaches. Requires that a claim be based on theories backed up by empirical evidence from well- designed studies before conclusions are drawn. A simple connection between cause and effect may be obscured by complex.
