How is society going to grapple with order: we saw a very big transition from traditional forms of social organization, i. e. Traditional based society industrial revolution, colonialism, democracy"s emergence, marx"s predictions, evolutionary theory. Containment: people evolve from simple to complex. Take it out of its particular belief, tradition; analyze it objectively: separation of time and space. Before technology, things were bound by time and space: cannot imagine a mindless now . Allows to think outside of terms of daily rhythms of the body. By separating time and space you can think rationally and reflexively: human capacity for rationality, we can think outside of tradition and instinct, objectifying human experience and social life, scientific method. Falsify, prove: different than interpretive methodology, models of social reality/organicism, must make a model of the thing that you"re trying to study (can"t study w/o, durkheim"s key ideas a mental image, functional necessities for a society"s survival.
