Lycurgus is supposed to be the founder of sparta: we"re not sure if lycurgus even existed, cleisthenes and the athenian revolution - 508 bc, beginning of athenian democracy, classical greece - 480-322 bc, standard period of greek art. Invasion of greece by the persians - 480 bc: death of aristotle - 322 bc. Spartan men had long hair and were famously barefoot. Spartan women were known for their physical strength/athletic ability and beauty.
