Can"t train people to become leaders if certain traits are necessary from the start. Unclear whether the personality traits differentiate good leaders from good workers. Relationship-oriented: focuses on building and maintaining relationships. Leadership type determined by the least favorable coworker test. Traits and behaviors are not all equally effective across all situations. Task-oriented leaders perform well in favorable (high respect, clear tasks, high positional power) and unfavorable (low respect, unclear tasks, low positional power) situations, but not in moderately favorable situations. Relationship-oriented leaders perform well in moderate situations (trying to get people on board), but not in favorable and unfavorable situations. Involves attribution of heroic or extraordinary leadership abilities when followers observe certain behaviors. Optimistic, passionate, communicate with entire body, create bonds with others, etc. A potential dark side exists - hitler, stalin, etc.
