The similarities between modern humans and neanderthals are rooted in their shared ancestry. Neanderthals were capable of hunting large game. Site of la cotte de st. brelade: 20 mammoths and 5 woolly rhinos stampeded off a cliff. Bone chemistry studies= neanderthals were essentially meat eaters one individuals diet appears to have been 97% meat. Lots of injuries, as seen today in rodeo performers (they were getting close to big game)
