Circadian cycle: a cluster of neurons that regulate your biological clock. Eeg: measures brain waves to record electrical activity. Stage 1: light stage; heart rate begins slowing. Myoclonic jerk: beginning to dream and your body reacts (vivid sensation) Stage 2: blood pressure and heart rate slows. Everything internally speeds back up while your body is externally paralyzed. Loose all skeletal ability to move, body is like jello. Sleep paralysis: when you wake up but your body is still paralyzed state. Cataplexy: fall over instantly; paralyzed state such as in rem. Apnea: lose breath in sleep so they suddenly catch their breath and go back to sleep. Rem sleep behavior disorder: muscles aren"t paralyzed in sleep. Night terrors: wake up and scream and go right back to sleep and they forget it happened; common in children. Sleepwalking/ talking: easier to guide them into bed than wake up. Lucid dreaming: aware that you"re dreaming; control dreams.
