A way of life for a group who identify with each other: shared values, beliefs, social rules: works and practices of intellectual activity theatre, cartoons, fashion, tv place culture society. Studying culture helps us understand how societies work. Quantitative objective" we are measuring the external world e. g. statistics, surveys, traffic counts. Qualitative subjective" we are interpreting the external word e. g. interviews, focus groups, observation: sources. Scale - individual, locality, settlement, regional, national, international, global. The way we view the world is influenced by our cultural lenses. We don"t see the world as it is, but as we are. Space geographical area or unit, measurable, identifiable - our understanding of space is influenced by our world views, technology, political norms of a given time and place.
