Social psychology: the scientific study of how individual"s thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are influenced by other people. Field dedicated to understanding the causes and consequences of social interactions between individuals or groups. 4 key aspects: influenced by other people; thoughts, feelings and behaviours; individuals" perspective; scientific study. Social aspect most important thing about social psychology. Includes the effect of an imagined presence (what would my mom think; imaging an interview) How individuals process information and how they store this information in their memory. Ultimate goal is to understand why various kinds of actions toward people occur or do not occur, such as conformity, aggression, helping, and discrimination. Social psychologists take the perspective of individuals in a social setting, rather than focusing only on objective features of the situation. Necessary to look at the world through the actor"s eyes. Whatever you believe to be the other person"s motive will determine how you behave.
