Diathesis-stress model- individuals inherit tendencies to express certain traits which be may activated under stress. Vulnerability- tendency to do something (fait at the sight of blood) Caspi and colleagues proved that disorders can not be linked by genetics or environment solely; it has to be both. Gene-environment correlation model- people might be genetically determined to create the very environmental risk factors that trigger a genetic vulnerability. Children with biological schizo parents wouldn"t develop the disorders as thought when raised by supportive adopted parents. Epigenetics- study of factors other than dna can alter the phenotypic expression of genes. Central nervous system- the brain and the spinal cord. Peripheral nervous system- the somatic nervous system and the autonomic nervous system. Synaptic cleft- space between the terminal button and the dendrite of another neuron. Glia- cells in the nervous system; help with neurotransmitters. Hindbrain- lowest part of the brain, contains the medulla, pons, and cerebellum; important for automatic activities and motor coordination (cerebellum)
