Social norms might vary from culture to culture and group to group, and provide guidance for how people are expected to behave in a particular place or group. How people typically behave in a situation. What people typically approve or disapprove of in a given situation. Conformity- social influence in which people change behaviors to be consistent with social norms. Can provide social order and reduces ambiguity and chaos, e. g. , how students behave in a classroom. Public conformity- people go with the norm even when they disagree with it.
