The first viewable stuff on a page when you open it should contain the key aspects of it so they know to keep scrolling. 1024x768 is the greatest common factor of screen resolution. People rarely look stuff up on a real computer- only their phones. Fluid grid (set container to max width and change width of all boxes from px to %) Viewport (goes inside the head tag) turns off automatic scaling of mobile devices. Adaptive design is a step further- accommodates for things on mobile that cannot be done on a desktop. Graceful degradation modern browsers support and provide fallbacks for unsupported features later, ensuring basic functionality.
