Occurs naturally in muscle, animal proteins provide creatine in diet. Take home: creatine phosphate provides energy for activities less than 10 seconds. Supplements are synthetically derived: increases energy stores in muscle for short, intense activities, improved endurance for lifting, draws water into muscle cells. Increased pressure makes muscle cells adapt and become stronger. Water makes muscle look more bulky: increased muscle growth, improved endurance for short sprints/similar activities, improved recovery, cramps possibly due to fluid in muscles. Many forms: injections, skin patches, pills, creams. Naturally occurring peptide hormone produced by the pituitary gland. Hgh: human growth hormone synthetic version: protein synthesis, glucose production in the liver. Hormone controlling red blood cell (rbc) production.
