Label structures and include brief description of function: upload this image to dropbox in d2l. Clicker question: what is true of all epithelial tissues: they are able to regenerate quickly. Clicker question: what are the major four tissue types: muscle, nervous, epithelium, connective. Types of glands: all glands lined by an epithelium, endocrine: lack ducts, produce hormones which pass into surrounding tissues/blood vessels. Closed structures: exocrine: secrete via ducts into body cavities or onto body surface. Epithelium is continuous down into the duct of that gland: exocrine glands (know the extent of figure 4. 5) Compound branched (duct has branches coming off it) Cells separated from one another by an abundant extracellular matrix. Functions: connects other tissues and organs together the glue, forms skeletal tissue. Bone and cartilage are types of connective tissue: carries and stores nutrients.
