Back in the ancient greek days, older men would have sex with younger men in exchange for mentorship. Alcibiades is being courted by many of these older men. However, socrates does not want to have sex with alcibiades but solely want to mentor him. In trying to win somebody over, you must prove that they need you. Alcibiades that he cannot survive without his guidance. Socrates is going to prove to alcibiades that he knows nothing about justice and needs socrates in order to make it as a politician. An or statement is only true if one option is true and the other option is false. Only one of those options can be true, you cannot be both dead or alive (unless you are in some weird coma). An or statement is false if both options are false.
