Brexit/ trump and the challenges of a democracy in a globalizing world. Vietnam -thought we were protecting against communism, and that we would make money. They understood that there was something deeply wrong in our societies and they believed that was the government itself. There is no such thing as society there is only the individual and the family - Reagan sought to reduce the size of the federal government through less interference in an industry. Agenda of the left parties was what can we do so that reagan and thatcher can be successful. Productivity increases while wages stagnate and decline. As union membership rates decrease, middle class incomes shrink. The federal minimum wage would be much higher if it had kept up with a growing economy. Jobs are being shipped abroad from usa, while more and more people come into usa and take the lower paid jobs that no one will take.
