Linen process: harvesting, retting, hackle, skutch, spin. Worked like a top; heat & (spindle) friction cause fibers to intertwine. Floor looms (as found in ancient egypt) Different linens had different textiles / functions / purposes. Warp threads tend to be thinner because they are highly spun, stronger. Pleats = movement = breathability because the texture stands apart from surface. Garments (mens" & womens") wrapped; uncut because textiles are expensive, also cloth is multifunctional. Womens" & mens": kalasiris (sort-of-dress with shawl) Tunic: uncut (pieces sewn on) shape formed by pleating ungendered garment; also a term used to describe any garment with fringe. Kouros & kourai: represent the ideal body.
