Contextual interactionist perspective: studying development in context while understanding that every psychological process is an interaction between individual and environment. How one person interacts moderates how the other interacts. Child refuses to eat his/her vegetables and mother responds by saying. Strong parental control as perceived by american adolescents: lack of parental affection, hostility and rejection. Strong parental control as perceived by turkish adolescents= did not interpret this as lack of affection, hostility or rejection. Strong parental control by japanese & korean adolescents: associated with parental warmth, and acceptance. Model of self and how this grows from how we value children for. Agrarian (farming) societies children are expected to do increasing amount of household chores as they age. Western or urban middle class class perform significantly less chores than children in other societies. West african children work by doing small errands from the time they begin to walk. Social integration = where child learn skills and roles to work in society.
