Heteronormativity: the standard relationship is between a man and a woman: the societal norm. In ancient greece, the term bisexual with a man was not unusual : ancient greece has exible gender relations. In the new england colonies, they developed a binary relations: man and woman only go together. Anything off-site of that can lead to death/ other forms of punishment. From the 1820s to the 1850s, the way we organized our gender relations. The market revolution period: going from a farm country to an industrial country. During the same time, we organize the traditional woman"s role and the man"s role: woman: housekeeper; caring; mother, man: breadwinner. By 1890s, the scientists of sexuality and gender they say that the gender/sexual relationships of people is the biological way : out of this, we develop the terms heterosexual and the homosexual . Heterosexual: binary relationship: this is when we have heteronormativity.
