The belief that although it is possible to deliberately avoid pleasure or choose pain, it is morally wrong to do so. A principle that says to always act to promote the greatest happiness for the greatest number. Just because the majority has one opinion on something, doesn"t mean they are right. Aristotle"s principle of mean maximize happiness and minimize suffering. John stuart mill believes that pleasures are not only different in quantity (bentham), but also different in quality. If everything else is the same, refined pleasures are preferable to and hence better that the cruder pleasures. More educated people should be able to vote. People vote against their best interest because the proposal/wording is hard to understand for some people. Educated people will be more responsible for their vote.
