The quality of being directed toward an object. The capacity to include some objects and not others. A task in which people wearing headphones are presented with different messages in each ear. A phenomenon in which people tune in one message even while they filter. Levels of consciousness: variations in quantity; how much awareness you have out others nearby. A low-level kind of sensory awareness and responsiveness that occurs when the mind inputs sensations and may output behavior. Consciousness in which you know are able to report your mental state. A distinct level of consciousness in which the person"s attention is drawn to the self as an object. What i am aware that i say, do, think, perceive, feel. Fear of loss & abandonment; drives of love & belonging; the hurt & rejected child with acted upon, but not normally aware of. Encapsulated drives/beliefs/processes that we unconsciously seek to realize in life (gender roles, ambitions, etc. )
