Explains behavior in terms of a single cause. Very problematic because most times it"s only partly true and ignores other information. Takes into account what causes the problem and then what continues to cause the maintaining of the problem. All the different stressors and causes are all integrated. What the actual genes say, on the dna level. Endophenotype = stable, heritable characteristic that is casually related to the disease (diagnosis) Gene expressions depend on environment and environment impacts depend on the genes. How genes are expressed in a certain environment. Genetic influences usually account for 50% or less of whether the disorder is present in the population. Multiple genetic explanations not just one gene that is a guaranteed explanation. Different explanations for the different times the disorder. Do not imply that the trait is unchangeable. Do not determine guaranteed outcome, but do constrain the likelihood of the outcome.
