Even with powerful rulers, parliament was important for the crown to fund their wars and collect taxes. Parliament became a steady form of income for the crown war making became limited through feudal constitutionalism. Parliament became so strong as and independt institution that it was itself able to go to war against the crown. Parliament won the war against king charles in 1648 and became a republic. The parliamentarians collapsed into factionalism and backstabbing which brought up the rule of oliver cromwell protectorate. The following king tried to rule without parliament relying on loans -> strengthening bourgeoisie society -> more powerful parliament. Parliament drove the king into exile and established william iii of orange as their king in the glorious revolution.
