Sudden infant death syndrome (sids) happens to 1-3 american babies out of 1,000. Sleeping face down rather than on the back. Having too many blankets or sleepwear temperament. Temperament: a consistent style or pattern of behavior. Negative affect: angry, fearful, shy; not easily soothed. Effortful control: can focus attention; not readily distracted; can inhibit responses.
