Document Summary

Anxiolytics are also called minor tranquillizers, sedatives, or hypno-sedatives: classification. Many drugs have anxiolytic properties (eg barbiturates, antihistamines), but benzodiazepines stand out for their efficacy and safety margins. In the past decade, buspirone, an azaspirodecanedione with a structure and pharmacological profile that distinguishes it from benzodiazepines, was synthesized. In peru there is also a long list of benzodiazepines, some with various brand names. The most important indications for benzodiazepines are anxiety disorders (eg generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder), anxiety secondary to medical conditions, and insomnia. They are also indicated in the management of some forms of epilepsy and diseases that require some degree of muscle relaxation. Buspirone can be used in the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder or in situations where benzodiazepines are contraindicated or not recommended: mechanism of action. Buspirone normalizes serotonergic neurotransmission through its binding with 5ht1a receptors at the pre and postsynaptic level; likewise, it interacts with presynaptic dopaminergic receptors: side effects.
