Document Summary

Cerebral cortex = outer rim of gray matter of cerebellum. Under = internal region of cerebral white matter + gray matter nuclei deep within white matter. Folds of rolls of cortical region of cerebrum. Precentral gyrus => contains primary motor area of cerebral cortex immediately anterior to central sulcus. Postcentral gyrus => contains primary somatosensory area of cerebral immediately posterior to central sulcus. Longitudinal fissure => separates r & l hemispheres (falx cerebri) Central sulcus => separates frontal lobe from parietal lobe. Lateral cerebral sulcus => separates frontal lobe from temporal love. Parieto-occipital sulcus => separates parietal lobes from occipital lobe. Broad band of white matter connecting the hemispheres internally. Contains axons that extend between hemispheres lies within lateral cerebral sulcus => deep to parietal, frontal, temporal lobes. Cant be seen @ surface of brain. Axons that conduct nerve impulses between gyri in same hemisphere. Axons that conduct nerve impulses from gyri in one hemisphere corresponding gyri in other hemisphere.
