Preterm births (from viability up to 37 weeks) Cardiac output and blood volume increase (45 to 50% at term) to meet the greater metabolic needs. Leukorrhea is a white or slightly gray mucoid discharge with a faint musty odor. This occurs in response to cervical stimulation by estrogen and progestrone. The fluid is whitish because of the presence of many exfoliated vaginal epithelial cells. This vaginal discharge is never pruritic or blood stained.
