The media play a role by creating fads and fashions for how people should look, and what they should wear, and what kind of friendships they should have. Can have negative consequences as the uses of social media leads to loneliness and depression. Workplace socialization has a particular influence on women, dramatically changing gender roles in many countries. The older population tend to be more honest and social politically. Total institutions: institutions that isolate individuals from the rest of society in order to achieve administrative control over most aspects of their lives.
