The term of reading images began throughout the middle ages. A reading is an interpretation from a position. Meyer schapiro visually analyzed romanesque sculptures around 1930s. Analyzer takes to reveal the formal logic of the presentation of subject matter. Recognizing what is represented, with reference to a text or story. Religious affiliation, education, gender, class, and ethnicity might have had recepetion on the images. Art historians bring the readers/listeners attention to thing with heightened attention to form arguments. Art work and its material qualities are assessed historically. Begins with the assessment of physical clues about materials, dimensions, condition, format, composition, techniques, and craftsmanship. Reading an object as a realion begins with informed assessment on physical clues. Physical analysis and the determination of factors affecting an object"s preservation provide evidence for that object"s use and associated meanings. The medieval objects are best known for their explicit linkage of the qualities of physical matter with spiritual power are relics.
