BUS 202 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Use Case, Jargon
Document Summary
Do/say something that goes against who people expect to get the audience"s attention. It is not enough to have a typical slow opening, a shocking quote, a question with a supporting answer, or a revealing statistic. Powerful image that has never been seen. Ask provocative questions to make people think. Need an emotional connection with the audience. Thank you or good morning is a ne introduction. Audiences remember what happens at the beginning of a presentation. An audience that shares a laugh is more connected. If they are laughing they are listening, however, it does not mean they are learning. Audiences want you to succeed but will generally only give you 1-2 minutes to do so. You must keep in mind that most of your audience is meeting you for the rst time. Consider the way you look, the way you move, and the way you sound. Stand in one spot present material, and then move to another spot.
