It"s heartbreaking to think that schools take away people"s spirits: it is obvious to see how people slip through the cracks yet teachers don"t do anything. To some extent it is ok to separate by levels: where is the fine line, it also works to pair students at different levels. You can do group work while giving extra support to certain students: can be stubble. All teachers should have a basic understanding of how to deal with kids that learn differently. After brown vs board of education many unqualified white teachers were hired over overqualified black teachers. Teach for america: many new young teachers are hired over older more experienced ones, they don"t stay for that long. Not much they can do in 2 years: lots of difficult placements for brand new teachers, solution: Takes 4 years to get to acclimated & when teaching curve ends. Just as much as students develop teachers need to develop as well.
