Realistic Fiction

Story that children can relate to

oPeople or animals

oWant to keep child engaged with it

Originated in the mind of a child

Can be seen as exaggerated and over the top

oBUT a bit of realism

Setting: real life place

oMay be made up school but still in school

Things children can relate to and see happening in the real world

Can be really rough subject but in the end kids need to see happy ending with some sort

of resolution

Authentic characters depicted in a good way

Many are about relationships

oStep-parents, families, friends, new siblings, bullying, natural disasters
