1. Captivating for children

2. Illustrated well

3. Well worded (right developmental level)

4. Good balance between text & illustrations

5. Good pace

a. The younger the child, the better the pace needs to be

6. Great ending

7. Teach (some type of message, lesson – might be humor)

8. Enjoyed by reader and listener

Read Aloud Tips:

Pick a great book (will make you lap, keep their attention)

Pick one that will enrich your relationship

Spark their imagination

Extend vocabulary

Inspire creativity (need to give parents ideas of how to be creative)
