Died aged 25 (car accident), leaving behind only four years" worth of recording. Nonetheless, he had a considerable influence on later hard bop jazz trumpet players, including lee morgan, freddie hubbard, and wynton marsalis. His solo style is a virtuosic blend of horizontal and vertical approaches to improvisation. His most enduring work was with the hard bop quintet he co-led with the drummer max roach in "55-56. Lee morgan (july 10, 1938 in philadelphia, pa-feb 19-1972 in nyc) Lee joined blakey"s jazz messengers in "59 and through the 1960"s he led one of the most popular hard bop group. Continued the exploration of gospel and r&b grooves in the music with hits like cornbread and the sidewinder . Theodore walter sunny rollins (sep 7th , 1930 in new york city) Began his career working with thelonious monk and bud powell.
