Album recorded by miles davis in 1969 and released in 1970. Recorded over the course of three days (august 19-august 21. Inspired by rock artists like jimi hendrix and sly and the family stone, Bitches brew incorporated electric instruments, such as electric piano and guitar, studio effects like looping and sound manipulation (distortion and wahwah pedals eat), and rejected traditional jazz rhythms in favor of rock/funk influenced drums beats and bass lines. The two-disc set contains mostly very long tracks, improvisations (sometimes including collective improv)on pieces that were sparsely sketched out on the spot. Style characteristics: all of the same style characteristics of free jazz, used electric instruments (piano, bass, guitar all plugged in now).
