Title: the independent association between diet quality and body composition. Authors: clemens drenowatz, robin p. shook, gregory a. The goal of this research is to examine the relationship between the healthy eating index (hei) (published in (cid:1006)(cid:1004)(cid:1005)(cid:1004)) a(cid:374)d (cid:862)(cid:271)ody fat(cid:374)ess o(cid:374) a (cid:272)o(cid:374)ti(cid:374)uous s(cid:272)ale, i(cid:374)depe(cid:374)de(cid:374)t of physi(cid:272)al a(cid:272)ti(cid:448)ity(cid:863). The relatio(cid:374)ship (cid:271)et(cid:449)ee(cid:374) the different sections of the hei and chance for obesity was also investigated. The study used objective measurements of physical activity in addition to (cid:862)(cid:373)easures of so(cid:272)ial desira(cid:271)ility a(cid:374)d so(cid:272)ial appro(cid:448)al(cid:863) to address (cid:271)ias i(cid:374) (cid:862)self-reported dietary intake(cid:863). It uses bmi and percent body fat to determine body composition, which can help to understand the correlation between diet quality, physical activity, and body composition. The participants provided at least 2 24- hour diet recollections over a time period of 2 weeks. The percent body fat was measured using x-ray absorptiometry and physical activity was measured by usi(cid:374)g a (cid:862)(cid:373)ulti-se(cid:374)sor de(cid:448)i(cid:272)e(cid:863) which was worn for 10 days.
