~what is the thought process behind choosing a topic to research?
Ebola
-arrogance of public health (lancet article)
-biomedical model isnt the absolute truth
-learning from communities
-Republic of Guinea
-Sierra Leone (size of panama, 6M people, closest to least developed country)
-enzootic cycle (epidemic only in animals)
-bats were reservoir hosts
-but when its in more than just animals, spillover episode occurs and spreads to humans
-west africa hella cases. really bad. check ppt lmao
impact of epidemic:
-water tank(disinfection using chlorinated water. requires lots of water) doctors w/out borders website
Why do we participate in public health
-think that "we the wealthy" can go in to the source of the epidemic and prevent people from getting on
planes and spreading to the public (yike)
-"service" what a saint tbh
-anthropology platform
-caring for the sick and dead are intensely practical matters
-when it comes to public health and epidemics you cant go about treating the dead the same way
-spiritual universes and belief systems
-the real way to through to people during the ebola epidemic is to compromise our ghosts. science and
religion have to coexist in order to ensure the safety of the living population

-treat all cases rapidly and diligently
